Armstrong
Head of R&D for a tech company. Design systems, AI integration, automation, and operational tooling across six products.
overview
role: Head of R&D
stack: Next.js, React, n8n, OpenAI API, Supabase, Figma, Tailwind, Docker
scope: Armstrong operates multiple consumer-facing products across gaming and crypto data — each with its own codebase, design language, and operational workflows. R&D efforts were siloed, duplicated, and slow to iterate. There was no shared system for design, no automation layer, and AI integration was ad hoc at best.

notes
Products
Slotmaster (slotmaster.com), Betiro (betiro.com), and Dreamz (dreamz.com) are online casino platforms sharing a unified design system with brand-specific theming. Coinlib (coinlib.io) is a crypto market data platform providing real-time pricing, charts, and portfolio tracking. Xino (xino.gg) is a data-driven app for professional gamblers offering game/casino comparisons, RTP analysis, and an insider community. Orbital is an enterprise app builder — a Lovable-style platform that lets non-engineers within the company build internal tools and dashboards.
Design systems
The core design system uses a token-based architecture with semantic layers for color, spacing, typography, and motion. Each casino brand overrides a theme layer while sharing structural components — navigation, game grids, account flows, payment forms. This lets us launch a new brand in weeks instead of months, and propagate fixes or features across all brands simultaneously.
AI & automation
LLMs are embedded across the product suite: automated support triage, promotional content generation, player behavior analysis, and compliance pre-screening. Workflow automation via n8n handles CRM segmentation, bonus distribution, KYC follow-ups, and regulatory reporting. The goal is to keep the team small by making the systems do the repetitive work.
Orbital
Orbital started as an internal experiment — a way to let ops teams build their own dashboards and tools without filing engineering requests. It evolved into a full app builder with drag-and-drop UI, database connectors, and workflow triggers. Think Lovable or Retool, but purpose-built for the company's internal data and APIs.
